From November 16 – December 3, the Winns Gallery, London, was home to the Lumen Prize for Digital Art.
Walthem Forest Council invited the Lumen Prize to create an exhbition in the Winns Gallery as part of the boroughs’ Digtial Month 2016.
Bringing together previous and current Lumen Prize artists, the exhibition ‘Adventures in Digital Art’ presented an introduction into the world of art and technology through playful interaction. Works such as Bonjour Lab’s Passage, which won the 2014 Silver Award, decrypts the visual and audio imprints that are created by anyone who steps near it – watch your body appear in front of you and then melt away as ‘digital rain’. Or be captured by Laura Dekker’s The Garden of Earthly Delights, or The Right to Be Forgotten an interactive projected installation that gives everyone the opportunity to be a participant.
Works from this year’s shortlist were also on show including the video game Eddy Melody, which transports you into a world where every creature has its own pitch.
