  • The Lumen Prize celebrates the very best art created with technology through a global competition. Since its launch in 2012, it has awarded more than $100,000 in prize money and created opportunities worldwide for the artists selected as finalists or winners. As a non-profit organization, we fundraise year round to cover prize awards and operating expenses.

  • 9 artists will receive cash awards ranging from $7,500 to $1,500, totaling $18,000.

  • As a non-profit organization, we collect a modest entry fee to help with the costs of administering the prize. The cost to enter is:

    Early Bird Fee Fee (March 7-31): $25.00 per Submission.

    Regular Fee Fee (April 1 - May 25): $35.00 per Submission.

  • No, submit as many as you like.

  • The Lumen Prize is open to all artists globally. Collaborative projects must list all contributors.

  • All art is eligible, as long as it engages with technology in some form and meets one of the five prize categories.

  • Yes, each entry is made to one of the five prize categories: Still Image, Moving Image, Interactive Immersive, Futures and Impact.

  • Yes, you can enter the same work into multiple categories, so long as it meets the parameters of the category.

  • Yes, you can submit multiple works to the same category, so long as each work meets the parameters of the category.

  • Yes, There is no limit on the age of a submitted work.

  • Any equipment or software can be used.

  • The form will ask for a 250 work maximum artistic concept description. It will also ask for corresponding technical details, including equipment/software used and dimensions, if applicable.

  • We ask for a primary image or video that best represents your work. You may upload up to three additional supporting images. Videos must be hosted on Youtube or Vimeo, otherwise they will not be taken into consideration.

  • The International Selectors Committee determines the finalists, and the Jury Panel selects winners for each award/category.

  • Indicate your eligibility when entering a category. Eligibility guidelines are as follows:

    Kunstsilo Award: For works which explore technology’s positive impact.

    BSC Award: For works by an artist from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or Finland.

    Carla Rapoport Award: For works which highlight underrepresented groups.
