MAN WITH AI MOVIE CAMERA' is a filmwork series that reimagines Dziga Vertov's 1929 film “MAN WITH A MOVIE CAMERA” through the lens of generative AI. Initiated in 2018 as a thought experiment by filmmaker Dan Sickles, the project has evolved into a collection of 480 feature-length films, each mirroring Vertov's original in timing and action, yet presenting distinct aesthetics shaped by curated visual datasets. These generations produce diverse outcomes that converse with each other and collectively point back to Vertov’s original vision. This project embodies both reflection and progress, inviting audiences to witness a dialogue between classic cinema and future-forward technology.
